Redefining High Resolution LED Signs

LED Basics

What are considered high resolution signs?

Would you trade in your new, high-definition television and buy your grandpa’s old tube TV? Would you tell your friends you’re upgrading your phone and buy a flip phone?

Then why are companies still selling outdated LED signs?

Some LED manufacturers will sell their customers on signs with a high pixel pitch and still claim to be “high resolution”. However, with advances in technology producing a 5 mm pixel pitch capability, 10 mm is simply not high resolution anymore.

In this new age of LED, customers should expect real high resolution from their sign providers — with pixel pitches like 6 mm or 5 mm.

Why doesn’t every company sell high-resolution signs?

Many companies still struggle to produce dazzling LED displays because of a pesky problem — overheating.

As pixel pitch decreases in a sign, temperature increases. If a sign cannot effectively disseminate the heat, they will inevitably burn out or fail. Because of this, some manufacturers settle for 10, 12, or 16 mm signs for their high resolution LED signs.

On the other hand, companies that have solved the heat problem – like GDTech – offer signs that give customers a beautiful display, and peace of mind. Businesses can trust that the technology will not only tell their story effectively, but will last
